Which size should I choose?
Breed examples are only a general guide. Dogs within the same breed can vary considerably in height, build, muzzle size and eating habits.
When choosing a size, consider the height of the stand, the width of the bowl and the amount of food your dog normally eats—not just their breed.
Small
Generally suited to cats, toy breeds and smaller dogs, including:
- Chihuahua
- Yorkshire Terrier
- Maltese
- Pomeranian
- Shih Tzu
- Miniature Dachshund
- Papillon
- Toy or Miniature Poodle
- Small terriers
Small is also a good option for dogs that eat smaller measured meals or do not need much bowl space.
Medium
Generally suited to small-to-medium dogs, including:
- Boston Terrier
- French Bulldog
- Pug
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- Jack Russell Terrier
- Miniature Schnauzer
- Beagle
- Cocker Spaniel
- Standard Dachshund
Medium provides more eating space and additional height without being overly large for compact or medium-built dogs.
Large
Generally suited to medium-to-large dogs, including:
- Border Collie
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- English Bulldog
- Kelpie
- Springer Spaniel
- Australian Shepherd
- Boxer
- Labrador Retriever
- Golden Retriever
Large is a good option for dogs that need a wider bowl, eat larger meals or are too tall to comfortably use the Medium stand.
Because larger dogs can vary significantly in height and build, we strongly recommend measuring your dog before ordering.
Measuring your dog
Have your dog stand naturally on a level surface, then measure from the floor to around the lower part of their chest.
The top of the bowl should sit below chest height, allowing your dog to eat with a relaxed neck position. It should not be so high that they need to raise their chin or stretch upwards to reach their food.
Also consider your dog’s usual meal size and muzzle width. A dog with a broad muzzle or larger portions may benefit from moving up a size even if they do not need the additional height.
